FAQ

Do I need my own board?

It's great if you have your own board, but many of our members have spares, so you may be able to borrow one.   If not, there are some places where you can hire a board.

See our "Paddling Friends" page for further information

Do you provide instruction?

No, we are purely a social group.   We are not qualified to instuct or lead trips and everyone participates at their own risk.

Saying that, we are all more than happy to pass on any advice and tips we may have picked up along the way

Where are the best places to paddle?

Difficult question.   It depends on what you like.

Some people love being out on the sea, and Aberdeen beach can be beautiful.  Cove harbour and Stonehaven also offer amazing trips, with coves and caves to explore.

There are plenty great lochs around the local area too.   Loirston and Corby Lochs are close by, as well as Loch Skene, Loch Kinord, and then a little further afield to Loch Lee and Loch Morlich.

If you like rivers, then Donmouth is great fun for beginners.  For a little more adventure, the Dee is just beautiful, and again urther afield you can find the Deveron and the Spey

Where can I get instruction?

Have a look at our "Paddling Friends" page for links to the local companies offering lessons, hire and tours.

If you are in Aberdeen, then Campbell Scott at Scot Surf provides great introductory paddle board trips in the sea, and on the Don.

In Stonehaven, Dave Jacobs of Stonehaven Paddleboarding offers fantastic trips for beginners and more experienced paddlers
